What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device. We use a small number of them, plus a few similar technologies (like localStorage), to make FlackEmail work and to understand at a high level how the site is used.
We try to use as few as we can get away with.
Strictly necessary
These cookies are required for the service to function. Without them, you cannot log in or stay logged in.
Examples: session cookie (keeps you signed in), CSRF token (prevents cross-site request forgery). These do not require consent under GDPR because they are necessary to deliver the service you asked for.
Preferences
These remember small choices you have made, such as light or dark theme, or your last-used view.
They are not used for tracking. You can clear them from your browser at any time without affecting your ability to use the product.
Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics on our marketing site. Plausible is cookieless and does not use persistent identifiers; it counts page views and high-level traffic patterns without profiling individual visitors.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or other ad-tech trackers.
Third-party cookies
A few specific flows route you through trusted third parties that set their own cookies on their own domains.
Stripe sets cookies on its checkout pages to process payments and prevent fraud. Their cookie use is governed by Stripe's own policy. We use no other third-party cookies on the marketing site.
How to control cookies
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Most browsers also let you block third-party cookies specifically.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break login. Blocking the others is fine; the product and site will keep working.
Changes
If we add or change a cookie, we will update this page and bump the "Last updated" date.
For material changes we will surface a notice in the product or on the marketing site.
